Tori is a Seattle based multidisciplinary artist whose work walks the line between irreverent navel-gazing and a seriousness rooted in social connection. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Tori is inspired by her mother, a fellow artist, and the community and landscape of Provincetown and Truro. Her upbringing in this creative environment fostered an admiration for both the playful and technical.
Tori’s formal education began at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where she studied art and architecture. It was during this time that she stumbled into a passion for intaglio printmaking. Though only a portion of her work is in print, the techniques and aesthetics of printmaking continue to influence her style. She furthered her education at the University of Washington, earning a Master’s in Architecture. This academic background enriches her artistic practice, allowing her to explore the intricate relationship between space and the human body.
Her work often juxtaposes high and low art forms, employing a playful yet serious exploration of how the body interacts with space. Tori’s art reflects her belief in the profound importance of play, merging formal technique with spontaneous creativity.
Currently, Tori continues to navigate her dual careers in art and architecture, driven by a vision of harmoniously integrating both disciplines. Her ongoing projects are a testament to her commitment to this dual pursuit, blending her architectural insights with her artistic endeavors.
